Description:
One of the most beautiful of spring annuals, this native of New Guinea offers a wide range of colors on large, showy blooms with foliage that is strong and elegant. These plants require medium light and cool temperatures. If you keep them at 60-80 degrees they will perform their best. They can be grown easily and quickly for landscape use or pot culture. One of the
most common mistakes in growing New Guinea Impatiens is over-feeding, especially in young, lightly-established plants. They simply don't need the feed until plants are established with full root systems; even then 150 - 200 ppm nitrogen is enough. If grown in pots or hanging baskets, these water drinkers will seem more
temperamental to drought or temperature stress. Plants should be transplanted to larger containers or the landscape as they become root-bound.
General Growing Tips:
1 plant per 4" pot with well-drained soil. Low feed until established (no pinch necessary). 60 degree night to 80 degree day temperatures. Medium light will finish these plants in 8 weeks. 10" baskets will need 4 plants per pot with 8-10 weeks until finished. Watch for thrips
and spider mites. Drench with fungicide at planting is recommended.
