Limited Time - Special Fall Program
Citronella, commonly called mosquito plant or pelargonium citrosum, is a member of the geranium family. Mosquito plant is a scented geranium and in the summer produces a white bloom with pink stripes. Citronella plant normally grows to a height between 24-36 inches tall, but some have reported much taller heights from plants that have been wintered indoors.
Contrary to popular belief, the plant itself will not deter mosquitoes, but when the leaves are rubbed on your skin they act as a natural repellent to mosquitoes.

Citronella is an evergreen perennial in zones 9-11. In all other zones mosquito plant will not survive the freezing winter. Grow in partial sun allowing the plant to dry out between watering. Citronella needs a lot of water, but it doesn't like to stay wet. In truth, Citronella is a pretty drought resistant plant. Use a well drained soil and give it moderate fertilizer.
Cuttings vary in size between different plant families. These rooted starter plants will arrive ready to be transplanted in to your final container. If they are to be used in a landscape application, you will need to establish them in a 4 inch pot or an 1801 before planting outside.
